Marathi Bhasha Din

Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Diwas

The Marathi language has a long history of Marathi traditions from the mahanubhava to the mobile age of even today. Though the Marathi dialect and Marathi regional dialect have been made from dnyaneshwars to the very best of the times and Yuva Sahitya Akademi winning writer Pranav Sakhdev, Marathi literature has become abundant in both of them. The magnitude of the abundance is not exactly achieved by this Marathi dialect, but it has received a legacy from ancient Marathi literature to modern Marathi literature. One of the names of this Varsa tradition is Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar alias Kusumagraj. Even though Kusumagraj has taken Marathi poetry to the highest level, he was honored with the Jnanpith Award by the Government of India for his respect for other languages while being proud of his language.

On February 27, the birthday of Kusumagraj, i.e., 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din’ is celebrated.  The Maharashtra government decided on January 21, 2013, to celebrate February 27 as 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Diwas' to greet the memories of poet Kusumagraj. Many people also call the same day 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas'. However, the general administration department of the Government of Maharashtra in its circular dated April 10, 1997, has instructed that it should be celebrated as 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas'.  May was being celebrated daily, but over time, it went into oblivion, so in 1997 the government had to increase the circular again.

'Marathi Language Gaurav Din'

The Maharashtra State Cultural Policy 2010 marks the 27th of February as 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Divas'. Kusumagraj has made a significant contribution to the cultural field of Maharashtra. Kusumagraj has taken Marathi poetry to a different height by taking it to a different height. Moreover, Kusumagrajan's contribution is to make a special place in the literature of Maharashtra's dialect.  He worked vigorously. Kusumagraj was born on February 27, 1912, in Nashik. Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar's elder sister's name was Kusum. It was from that name that she used the name Kusumagraj as her poet. Kusumagraj wrote globally with her subjective commitment and socially emotional writings.

'Marathi Official Language Day'

According to Article 347 of the Indian Constitution of India, the President has the provision and right to recognize as an official language any language spoken to the people in a significant way.   The territory of Maharashtra was laid out on May 1, 1960. The Marathi language was perceived as the authority language of the state work. Since then, the day 1st of May is celebrated as 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas' or 'Marathi Language Day. The then Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik's government had first adopted the 'Marathi Official Languages Act, 1964'    It was made famous in January 1965. According to the Act, it was declared that the official language of Maharashtra should be Marathi. The implementation of this decision began from 1966 onwards. The Vasantrao Naik government further established four centers at the regional level by creating a language directorate for the first time in the state for the promotion of the Marathi language and also announced that the state government will run from Marathi.  it was done.

As Marathi speakers came into existence in the state of Maharashtra on May 1, 1960, the day was expected to be celebrated as 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas'. But, for a few years after the formation of the state of Maharashtra,   'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas' was being celebrated on May 1. The Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas and the Workers' Day were also being celebrated on this day along with the Marathi Official Language Day. Both these days led to the neglect of 'Marathi Rajbhasha Din'. The General Administration Department of the Maharashtra government then issued a fresh government decision on April 10, 1997, and directed that the 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas' should be celebrated on May 1.   On the three days from April 28 to April 30, 1997, various initiatives should be organized to hold a ceremony on 1st May with a ceremony and on the same day, the government decided to celebrate 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas'. Due to this decision of the government, 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas' is celebrated on May 1.

"'Jagtik Matrubhaga Diwas'"

'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas' and 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din' are celebrated on 21st February by the great 'Mother Language Day. It was the world body at the global level that UNESCO decided to celebrate February 21 as 'Jagtik Matrubhaga Diwas'. Hence, 21st February is the day to express love for our mother tongue on this day.   In February, 'World Mother Tongue Day is celebrated every year.

Three different days

It is important to understand that the 'Marathi Rajbhasha Diwas’ to be celebrated on May 1, the 'Jagtik Matrubhasha Diwas’ to be celebrated on February 21, and the 'Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Diwas’ which is being celebrated on February 27 are all three days special.

Conclusion:

One of the facts from this is the undeniable truth that our mother tongue Marathi is the best. It should be respected by all. The English language should also respect the Marathi language.
